Starting today (July 18, 2016) all metered taxis will be allowed in all NAIA terminals to pick up arriving passengers. This was the pronouncement made by the newly appointed MIAA General Manager, Eddie Villanueva Monreal, last week.
Prior to this, only accredited taxis and vehicles (coupon taxis, car rentals, hotel cars, airport shuttle and airport metered taxis) are allowed to pick up passengers from all the terminals. However, due to the huge volume of arriving passengers (estimated to be around 45,000 daily), these are not enough and a lot of passengers are stuck in the terminals waiting for their ride.
Earlier this year, transport networks like Uber and Grab were also given accreditation to enter the terminals and pick up passengers.
