Spotted: China flies H-6K bomber over Scarborough Shoal

The Chinese military has been spotted flying their H-6K bomber over the Scarborough Shoal last week, just after the International Arbitration Court ruled in favor of the Philippines over the disputed islands in the West Philippine Sea.

The H6-K is a long-range heavy bomber by the Chinese military with only the Soviet and the US having similar aircraft. The H-6K is designed for long-range attacks and stand-off attacks. It is considered as a strategic bomber. It is capable of attacking US carrier battle groups and priority targets in Asia. This aircraft has nuclear strike capability {wiki}.

The photos here were actually posted by @ChinaSCIO on Twitter last July 15 after pointing to news stories that “Chinese marine corps of the PLA Navy conducted live ammunition combat training in the South China Sea on July 12”.

Despite getting a favorable ruling from the International Court, the Chinese government has publicly rejected the decision.
