Parties are intimidating, but they don’t have to be. This is why party games were invented. They break the ice for socially awkward people like you and me. This is the 21st century, though, and card and board games, while indeed fun to play on, aren’t omnipresent as they used to be. What’s always around, though, are phones—hence this article.
Here’s a list of the best party app games you and your friends (or strangers at a party) can play.
A speech jammer does exactly what it sounds like it would do. It distorts your voice and plays it back through your ear plugs, effectively screwing up your speech. It’s fun. And chaotic. As our video above proves.
Heads Up! is the viral game popularized by Ellen Degeneres. It’s practically charades, but built to make you look like a fool, what with that video recording function. Our coworkers/fellow bloggers played it. Check it out.

Sort of like Taboo, but on your phone.
Reverse Charades adds yet another twist to the typical charades game. In this iteration, only one has to guess the right words, and a pompous cast of however many will have to get their shit together and help that sole guesser hit the right words.
FREE / Multi-platform
Jackbox has a host of hilarious games such as Fibbage, Quiplash, and Tee K.O. (and then some more). You can play them in various platforms from desktop to Xbox to your mobile phones.
UNO & Friends
Pretty straightforward. A mobile game version of a card game notorious for breaking friendships.
Would You Choose…!?
FREE / iOS
Exactly like Would You Rather, but again, on your phone. Try the gross-out category. It’s, um, gross.
FREE / Android
Anyone who’s watched Eat Bulaga will know about this game. Yet again another version of charades, but you’re limited to give clues using only three words: yes, no, and maybe.
Ever played Pictionary? If you don’t have a pen and paper, this game will do.
