So. This article is going to be a doozy.

As you all know, there is a live-action Barbie movie, and people are bolted upright when they learned that Amy Schumer is attached to play the title character. I have my opinions about Schumer, not about her figure but the fact that half her comedy are too dangerously “inspired” by a lot of her predecessors. I don’t think she’s that too funny, but I can also see the appeal. I’ll leave it like this: she’s no Melissa McCarthy.

People are understandably excited about the project, primarily because Schumer is supposed to be the one who’ll break conventions of female beauty. Anyone who’s seen a Barbie doll in their lifetime will know that they are fashioned after 80’s Jane Fonda’s physical glory.

Turns out, Schumer playing a Barbie Girl is not going to happen anymore. “Sadly, I’m no longer able to commit to Barbie due to scheduling conflicts,” Schumer said in a statement in Variety. “The film has so much promise, and Sony and Mattel have been great partners. I’m bummed, but look forward to seeing Barbie on the big screen.”

Schumer co-wrote the film’s script with Diablo Cody, and I guess that it’s the most of what people will get of Schumer in the upcoming Barbie movie. I think it doesn’t really make much difference, unless they choose to cast a conventionally beautiful blonde even if it’s just for laughs.

What do you think? Does Schumer’s stepping down make life in plastic not quite so fantastic?
