Pediophobia is a real thing to a lot of people. It’s about to get very real with the first official trailer of Annabelle: Creation, the prequel to the 2014—ahem—flop that took a closer look into the history of the possessed doll first introduced in the 2013 shock-fest, The Conjuring. The trailer looks real tight, which is something because to get a reaction like this right after the release of the trailer for It, is most definitely, rare.
Watch the full trailer after the bump.
Two things to take away from the trailer: 1.) David Sandberg is directing, and that means some ingenious scares and something resembling a decent story, and 2.) it feels like a reboot, something that, hopefully, will correct the few things the original got wrong.
The film’s plot is described as:
“Several years after the tragic death of their little girl, a dollmaker and his wife welcome a nun and several girls from a shuttered orphanage into their home, soon becoming the target of the dollmaker’s possessed creation, Annabelle.”
That’s taking a page from Pet’s Sematary—heck, even Annabelle’s supposed death scene is taking cues from the classic—who tackles a number of issues, most prominently those of life and death. Starring Stephanie Sigman, Talitha Bateman, Lulu Wilson, Philippa Coulthard, Grace Fulton, Anthony LaPaglia and Miranda Otto, Annabelle: Creation will hit Philippine theaters August 10, 2017.
