During an event at NYC focused on education, Microsoft announced its most sensible hardware yet. A traditional, non-2-in-1 laptop built to last the demands of the daily life of a student.
Meet the new Microsoft Surface Laptop.
There are no funny business here. No iffy mechanisms; just gorgeous design and engineering. Available in four colors (if you’re sane, the red one would be your pick), the Surface Laptop boasts an aluminum back and a keyboard carpeted with the same Alcantara material found on the Surface Pro 4. It has a 13.5-inch (2,256 x 1,504 resolution) PixelSense touchscreen display.
The insides are no joke, either. It ships with 7th Gen Intel i5 and i7 and offers a variety of storage options of up to 1TB SSD. Microsoft claims that this is 50 percent faster than the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro and lasts longer, too (MacBook Air only gets up to 13 hours of battery life and MacBook Pro has up to 10 hours). Also, it runs with Microsoft’s newly announced education-centric OS, the Windows 10 S.
Here are the specs (per Hungry Geeks):
- 13.5-inch, 1080p PixelSense Display
- 1 USB-A port
- 2.76 lbs
- 3:2 aspect ration
- Up to Core i7 processor
- Up to 1 TB SSD Internal Storage
- 14.5 hours of battery
- Dolby Premium audio
The Microsoft Surface Laptop is expected to hit the shelves in June for a whopping price of 999 USD (approx. 45,000 PHP).
