One down. Many more to go.
“Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” is currently storming the theaters and officially starts a summer with so many superhero movies.
After that, there are still over 20 more superhero movies that have been already announced to hit the cinema over the next few years. Marvel is finishing up the 3rd phase of their cinematic universe and will finish it in the next “Avengers” film by bringing them all together. On the other hand, DC will start with Wonder Woman along with the superheroes teased back in “Batman V Superman“, then will release the “Justice League” movie. Meanwhile, Fox is also starting their X-men universe that’s slated in 2018.
Here are the chronological order of the superhero movies announced.
The next movie after Guardians of the Galaxy is Wonder Woman’s origin movie. The Fast and Furious actress Gal Gadot first appeared as Diana Prince in a cameo on Batman V Superman. As you can see from the trailer above, the movie will primarily focus on Diana’s origin story and her first rival, Poison. With Star Trek actor Chris Pine as her love interest, Wonder Woman is scheduled to hit the big screens this June 2.
After DC’s Wonder Woman it’s time for Marvel to flex their muscle with Spiderman: Homecoming. Dubbed as Homecoming, we’ll see a younger Peter Parker living his life as a high school student that’s having problem balancing his role as an Avenger and a regular student. Spiderman: Homecoming is set to debut this July 7.
But wait, Marvel isn’t going to stop there. After Spiderman: Homecoming, they will also release the third installment of our favorite Thunder God Thor with Thor: Ragnarok. As the teaser trailer suggest, we’ll get to see Thor getting himself kidnapped and eventually fighting Hulk in an arena.
Major actors will also join the film. Oscar winner Cate Blanchett will play the role of Hela, an evil goddess that has the power to destroy Thor’s hammer. There’s Jeff Goldblum as the Grandmaster and Karl Urban as Skurge the Asgardian warrior. The moment we’ve all been waiting for. Moving away from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Marvel and Sony will collaborate to bring as an animated Spider-Man movie. We don’t know what’s the point of this but knowing that Phil Lord and Chris Miller and writing and producing the movie, we know that it will be good. Instead of Peter Parker, they will bring Miles Morales — a half black, half Puerto Rican teen — to take the mantle of our friendly neighborhood superhero, Spider-man. After Aquaman, it’s time for the Flash’s own origin story. Played by Ezra Miller, the Flash will have no connection whatsoever with the current Flash TV Series. First seen in Batman V Superman, the movie was pushed back to 2019 because they scrapped the old script to make a new one.
But DC isn’t stopping there. Right after The Flash’s own origin story, it’s time for Cyborg to get his own. It’s slated to appear on April 3, 2020.
But wait! There’s more! Ben Affleck also confirmed that he will have another solo Batman film in the future but right now, there’s no official released date. Also, Suicide Squad is also expected to return in the future. Finally, Harley Quinn will also have her own spin-off movie entitled Gotham City Sirens.
