Disney Movie Stolen by Pirates, Demands Ransom

Isn’t ironic? That they next Pirates of the Caribbean is held by movie pirates and are asking for bitcoin ransom? Huh. What are the chances, right?

First reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Disney CEO Bob Iger announced to ABC staff today that hackers claim to have an unreleased Disney film, and will release it to the internet unless they pay for the demanded price. The hackers now have threatened to release the film in 20-minute chunks over time unless they receive payment.

Currently, Disney is working with federal investigators to fix the issue. The report didn’t actually said the exact amount but of course, it’s really a huge price.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales will officially hit the theaters on May 26.
