It’s July 25 and the newest Starbucks Açai Mixed Berry Yogurt Frappuccino and Granola Dark Mocha Frappuccino are finally available in Starbucks branches near you. Perhaps it’s Starbucks’ attempt to make their drinks healthier? We’ll never know. Thankfully we were able to snag one Açai Mixed Berry Yogurt Frappuccino this morning to let you all know what you’re in for.

Maybe this is Starbucks Asia’s Pink Drink, since the real Pink Drink is yet to arrive (yes, we’re hoping). Just like the Pink Drink, this Açai Mixed Berry Yogurt Frappuccino can be another addition to your everyday Instagram Stories with its bright and fresh look. Not quite sure if it’s that healthy though.

What’s in the Açaí Mixed Berry Yogurt Frappuccino?

The drink comes with light milk foam on top, the mixed berry and yogurt drink, plus popping boba in açai flavor. It’s a pink-purple drink that when mixed together looks exactly like a smoothie bowl without the fresh fruit.

What’s does the Açaí Mixed Berry Yogurt Frappuccino actually taste like?

First up, I was so confused with the light milk foam because clearly I wasn’t expecting anything when I bought this. The light milk foam tastes exactly like whipped cream, just not as thick. So I mixed it in with my drink instead.

The drink itself was surprisingly refreshing and light, like a tropical smoothie. I would love to affirm that the drink tasted exactly like a ton of berries in one, but this Acai Mixed Berry Yogurt Frappuccino just mostly reminded me of plain frozen yogurt. So if you’re a total fan of fro-yo, well this is the drink for you.

I’m not really a fan of popping boba (or popping pearls) because there’s always just so many of them at once. At first sip, you’re probably going to get like 10 of them. But that’s okay, since the acai-flavored popping boba adds a hint of sweetness to the yogurt drink. It was pretty good if you put them all together.

As for the popping boba on its own, well it just tasted like mild grape juice. Way better than the pomegranate pearls in Starbucks’ Iced Shaken Hibiscus Tea.

Overall rating?

Probably a 7/10. It’s not something I would get every single day at Starbucks, but it is a great refresher for when you just want to chill after a long day in this humid climate. The Starbucks Acai Mixed Berry Yogurt Frappuccino is a new taste, something other than the milky and decadent drinks you’ve been used to.

The Starbucks Acai Mixed Berry Frappuccino is P175 for a tall, P190 for a grande, and P205 for the venti.

Final Thoughts

Although I’m glad Starbucks Philippines is finally releasing more fruity drinks! After the death of the Mango Passionfruit drink, I think it’s about time we have a fruit-based drink back in the Starbucks menu. Of course, I still won’t stop petitioning the popular coffee chain to finally bring the Strawberry Acai Refresher in the Philippines.

Oh, and it’s ah-SAH-yee.
