The CW, the producers behind the recent reimagining of the Archie Comics now named Riverdale, have another comic to play around with – Sabrina the Teenage Witch. According to Cosmopolitan, this show revolves around the comic series The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, giving viewers a darker and more thrilling adaptation.
“Tonally in the vein of Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist, this adaptation finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family, and the daylight world humans inhabit,” (from a press release, via HelloGiggles)
This series will be another one-hour drama focusing on Sabrina’s dual nature as half-witch and half-mortal. It sounds a lot like the Sabrina: Friends Forever movie, except now marketed to adults rather than kids and teenagers.
Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the chief creative officer of Archie Comics will be the executive producer and writer for the new series. There are no concrete announcements yet, but we’re hoping the show will release next year or 2019 at the latest.
